Report from the Generali Balloon of Paris: Understanding Why Heat Increases Pollution
Michel Chevalet, a renowned science journalist, boarded the Generali Balloon of Paris during the recent heat waves to discuss the link between heat waves and air pollution. At an altitude of 150 meters above André Citroën Park, he was even able to see with his own eyes a veritable “haze” of pollution on the horizon. He then interviewed Jean-Baptiste Renard, a research director at the CNRS, to explain the link between heat waves and deteriorating air quality, particularly ozone and fine particulate matter.
The Generali Balloon is not just a fantastic attraction and a Parisian landmark: it is also a scientific observation platform capable of capturing real-time data on the urban atmosphere. A unique tool, positioned in the heart of the city, where pollution is concentrated and health risks are greatest.
Finally, Matthieu Gobbi, co-founder of Aerophile, noted that more than 120 large Aerophile tethered balloons have already been installed worldwide, combining an exceptional tourist experience with a commitment to contemporary environmental issues.
